Join a nationwide microgreens growing experiment—from your classroom, office, or community space!
The experiment
This week, schools and community groups across Australia are growing microgreens alongside us at Urban Green Sydney.
We’re investigating a simple question:
How does the growing medium affect the way our microgreens grow?
Using the same seeds but two different growing media — hemp mat and coconut coir — we’ll observe what happens over seven days.
Your results might look similar to ours. They might look completely different. That’s part of the experiment.

We’ll be growing our own Seed to STEM trays alongside you and photographing them throughout the experiment.
Like many of you, we’re running our experiment in a home environment rather than inside our commercial farm.
